Are you planning a visit to the Czech
Republic?
The Czech Republic is a favourite destination for millions
of tourists thanks to its long history. Situated in the heart of Europe, the country has
come under the influence of several different cultures throughout the course of history.
This explains the unique cultural heritage of this relatively small country. The jewel in
the Czech crown is the country's capital, Prague, with its fascinating architectural
styles and unique atmosphere. However, the country is also dotted with numerous other
historical cities, castles, chateaux and spas.
Over the centuries nobility and kings built dozens of
castles which still dominate the Czech landscape today. The most important of these are
the Zvikov castle known as "the king of Czech castles", the 15th century
Gothic castle Krivoklat, the Karlstejn castle built by Charles IV and
the Gothic castle Bouzov.
The Country's Natural Heritage:
Southern Bohemia: characterised
by its large number of lakes, moors, meadows and woods. This region
is ideal for water sports and visits to many historical monuments.
Cesky Raj (Bohemian Paradise): famous for vast
granite rock cities, deep-cut valleys and river
canyons, which are located near Turnov, Jicin and Mnichovo Hradiste.
Moravsky kras (Moravian Karst): this
fascinating district northeast of Brno contains dozens of kilometres
of caves with rich stalactite decoration. An extraordinary experience
awaits tourists who take a boat ride on the underground river Punkva.
The famous Macocha Abyss came into existence after the collapse of several
cave floors. It is 138.4 meters deep, and at the upper part 174 meters
long and 76 meters wide.
And if you enjoy sports, the Czech Republic offers
everything you need for skiing, mountain climbing, cycling, water sports and
golf.
